To Joyce

Hi Joyce,
I completely relate to being nervous yet wanting to get it done and
over so our lives can resume to somewhat normal again. My surgery
is also scheduled for October 19th. You'll be in my thoughts and
prayers. May the spine gods be smiling on us on our big day!

Re: Praying for an appt!

2008-11-22 23:09:32

Christle,
I know your angst and I have a suggestion!
I have been waiting all week just to be called with our first appt
date. And finally they called today. Unfortunately, the appt date they
gave me was for Oct 11th. And as you know, that's just not good enough
for us worrying moms. So, I immediately said that I am willing to go
to any office to get any earlier appt. The women told me the other
office that the specialist travels to and good enough that office is
able to see us on Sept 6th with the same specialist!!! A week from
Tuesday!!!
I still wish the appt was tomorrow but I am really happy I was
persistant. Sept 6th is a big difference from Oct. 11th. We also made
a 2nd appt with a different hospital. That appt is scheduled for Oct.
19th and they put us on a waiting list to get a sooner appt. We also
know someone that could get the date moved up. It sounds a bit selfish
to network for favors but when it comes to my daughter, that is
irrelevant to me.
Here is also a link my husband found that ranks the top 5 Pediatric
Orthopedic deptartments in the country. (We were happy to know our
first appt. with Univ. of Mich made that list at #5)
http://www.child.com/kids/health_nutrition/top_hospitals04.jsp?page=14
Give your office a call and see if you can call another office that
your specialist visits. And try making an appt with another hospital.
We checked with our insurance and they said we did not need a referral
to make an appt anywhere we could get in.
Good Luck and keep being persistant!! Big hugs while you/we are
waiting.
Take care ~ Paula

myelogram

2008-11-22 19:55:52

I had my myelogram with CT today. I did not feel A THING! I couldn't believe
it when he said it was done- I was still waiting for the jab in my back...I
was so scared last week because of my previous experience with a myelogram.
I went in Friday morning and then was told I needed to move the appointment
to today. I believe it was Divine intervention because that caused another
doctor to do the procedure- not the one who would've done it on Friday. This
doctor was not only extremely skilled and competent, but also very
compassionate and a GOOD listener. Well, so far so good...I'm doing well
pain wise, headache wise, nothing. I will know the results in about two
weeks. In between we're moving this weekend and the kids are writing exams.
So please, all those of you that I'm owing an e-mail, I'm sorry for the
delay, I'll get to it a.s.a.p.

update on appt. with Dr. LaGrone - to Cam

Just a thought on this subject, how about the protection pads that women who are breastfeeding use, would they be of any benefit during surgery or am I way of course here, no experience yet although I am trying ;-) but don't some of them have cooling gel in them to help ease pains from breastfeeding?

WHAT A DAY !!

2008-11-22 08:49:43

Hey gang,
Thanks for the well wishes ! I just got back from the hospital...lots
of running around today. I got the MRI report and the actual MRI, x-
rays and clinic visit notes - pretty hectic day. My brain is not
functioning very well right now, I think it's due to the impending
appointment with Dr. Rivard - I'm in a semi quasi vegetative state :)
I won't be able to respond in any intelligible fashion to questions
etc... until I get back next week. There are a lot of intelligent moms
on this board such as Deshea, Nola, Tanya and others I'm sure, who
will be more than happy to help.

Praying for an appt!

2008-11-21 21:03:44

Every day I rush in hoping to have a msg from the specialist saying
that my daughter can be seen before her appt on Sept 26! This is an
eternity for a 5 year old and her anxious Mommie! Any suggestions on
what we can do while we wait? I have a list of questions, they are
great! Any exercises? How much can a curve progress in a month? I
call daily to see if we can get in earlier. UUUUGGGHHH!

Perhaps one could get them to provide some of that sticky plasticky sheet stuff to put nice and tight over the whole nipple area, to protect them? Or somehow tape over them?
